Here are our thoughts on social media marketing: Yes, do it—and you’ll thank yourself later.

It’s not going anywhere. In fact, there’s a good chance that you and your clients are already investing money in businesses via the stock market because you believe in their longevity. Social platforms are no different. If you and your future clients are willing to spread their investments across various channels—many of which are social platforms—then it’s worth recognizing the influence and reach these platforms have. That, to us, is smart marketing. More specifically: it’s social reach.

Whether it’s through Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, or LinkedIn—these platforms are built on social elements: following, subscribing, liking, commenting (our favorite place to find a laugh or dive into a passionate rant). All of these are powerful signals of engagement.

Now, yes, social media has had its fair share of stigma. But it’s improving. And as long as you stay in your lane, follow best practices, and post consistently for your company, it can take you far.

You might be asking:

  • What does a successful social post even look like?

  • How often should we be posting?

  • What kind of content should we focus on?

There are so many questions around this topic. Honestly, this could be a whole book—wait, there are books on this! The resources are out there.

As digital marketers, some of us specialize specifically in social media marketing. You could easily spend 40 hours a week just listening to social accounts, participating in Facebook Groups, or engaging on both LinkedIn and TikTok (yes, we know those are polar opposites). But for a social media expert, it’s like speaking different coding languages—C++, Python, etc. We know they’re not the same, but testing and getting ahead of the curve isn’t a bad strategy either.

We digress.

Building Visibility Through Social Media Presence and Smart Automation

Now, being discovered through social media might be a different story—you may need to run some ads at first, especially if you’re starting from scratch. However, chances are you’ve already put in a good amount of work, built a following, and created some reporting for your business. Your social presence has likely grown as well—this is especially common on LinkedIn.

Let’s say you’re networking more than ever, sending emails, making calls, and getting your name out there every day. There’s a good chance potential clients will search for you—some may go straight to your social profiles to evaluate your brand and see how consistent you are. You might even show up in a Google search while being considered for a project. It could be a 20- or 30-something assistant making the recommendation—who knows?

If you’re a solopreneur or leading a team of 30 or more, there are countless tools available in the social media marketing arsenal. One powerful option is automating your messaging—using chatbots or integrated messenger tools to streamline engagement and support.

Either way, it’s worth having a solid presence that says: We’re here. Especially when you’re doing everything you can to build a business.

The bottom line? Find the right strategy and the right platforms for your business.
